Vein Therapy – Spider Veins
How does this treatment work?
A specific laser beam passes through the skin and penetrates the target vessels. This causes the blood inside the vessel to coagulate and the vessel walls to collapse and seal. These vessels are then dissolved within the body.
Does it work on all skin types?
Yes! Spider vein removal works on a wide range of skin colours.
Is it permanent?
Existing spider veins that are treated will disappear. The development of new veins cannot be prevented and if your body tends to develop vascular problems you will most likely need to keep having sporadic treatments.
Does spider vein Removal hurt?
It is described as “being flicked with a rubber band.”
Paracetamol prior to the treatment certainly helps.
How many treatments does it take?
The number of treatments depends on the severity of the veins. You should expect to have 1-3 treatments in six week intervals.
What happens after the treatment?
Your skin may be bruised or discoloured, and often small blisters and later scabs will appear. This is not permanent and it will go away.
It is useful to apply a Post Laser cream, Vit K , Arnica or even Auriderm cream.
What do I need to avoid – Prior to treatment?
Discontinue tanning or tanning products at least three weeks prior to treatment. Also, avoid alcohol for two weeks before spider vein therapy.
After treatment?
Do not use Aspirin or other anti-inflammatory medications such as Advil, Nurofen and fish oil supplements.
